I’m Joe. I’ve taught guitar full-time for over ten years and studied music at university. I love helping people turn the music they listen to into music they can play.
Everyone learns differently. I’ll explain things in a way that makes sense to you, work at your pace and give you something clear to practise between lessons.

Starting something new can come with questions. I’m happy to talk yours through.
Ask me anythingIs it okay if I’ve never played before?
Absolutely. We’ll start with holding the guitar comfortably, making a clean sound and playing something simple in your first lesson.
What ages do you teach?
Children from age five, teenagers and adults of all ages. Lessons are adapted to each person’s age, interests and experience.
Do I need my own guitar?
There are guitars at the studio you can use during lessons. You’ll ideally need your own for practice at home, and I’m happy to help you choose one.
Can I sit in on my child’s lesson?
Yes, you’re welcome to sit in, especially for the first lesson. You’ll also receive practice notes so you know what your child is working on.
Where are the lessons, and when can I come?
Lessons are at my studio in Mt Eden, Central Auckland. The exact address is shared when you book. Check current availability or send an enquiry with the days and times that suit you.
Do you teach acoustic and electric guitar?
Yes, both. Rock, blues and metal are my home ground, and lessons are built around the music you want to play, including acoustic songs and fingerpicking.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to reschedule or receive a refund. Let me know as early as you can.
Can I learn with you online?
Yes. I offer live Zoom lessons, self-paced courses and personalised coaching. Explore online learning.
